New Project - With Special Guest Artist!

So I wanted to start modelling a female character in zBrush, one: for some really nice lip-sync and facial animation down the line, and two: because I haven't really modelled a female character before.

So after banging my head against the wall for a good hour the other night I gave up on doing a female character design. Thankfully I know a lot of very talented artists so I managed to coerce one of them to do a character design from me.

So here's the work so far, with a big, huge, giant thank you to Sanna Myllykangas for the designs (check out her amazing work here: http://www.sannart.net/)

Here's the original zSphere skeleton with a nice pose.

Unfortunately for modelling I couldn't keep the pose. Oh well!

Modelling Update

So since I have a shiny new animation showreel up I thought it might be a good idea to put up some of the models that I've made this year for my film, along with some wireframes to show the (hopefully) lovely edgeflow.

The work was done in a back and forth between 3D Max and zBrush.

Big Bad World

So! Finally finished up in college. 6 years in total. Eegads. I'll try not to think about the fact I could be a doctor or something.

Anyway, I can finally start updating my blog again. First up: New Showreel!

Whoops...

Yikes! 6 months since I updated! That's disgraceful!

I've a heap of new stuff to put up but don;t have the time to organise it at the moment. Soon though! ... Probably...

Hungry Like the Wolf

I should try to base all my post titles around Duran Duran songs.

Anyway, finally got back to modelling in preparation for the film kicking off. So with that in mind here's the progress on the Wolf character model.

It's coming along. Still needs a lot of work though but hey not bad for a few hours work and my first time properly using zSpheres.

I Am Sculptor

So I've spent the last week or so getting to grips with Zbrush. The tutorials (the basics anyway) are done and dusted but whenever I find myself hitting a block (often) I just need to google it and there's a tutorials for it.

A lot of it seems to just be ezoerimenting though. Trying to find a solution to a problem. And that's something I've always loved when using 3D max and it's hightened in ZBrush.

Anyway, I'm having fun with it. Here's the film updates:

Turnaround

First turnaround for Setanta. Next time: Less naked! Off to block out the model in 3D and then maybe move into ZBrush!
